About

Who We Are
New Vision Organization (NVO) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit dedicated to advocating for incarcerated first-time offenders, regardless of offense, who are serving life sentences or life without parole (LWOP).

Our vision is to connect Life/LWOP individuals with supportive resources, including pro bono criminal, appellate, post-conviction, and civil rights attorneys willing to assist them.

We collaborate with other organizations and advocacy groups to push for comprehensive criminal justice and prison reform, including meaningful parole reform and other essential changes.

The United States is the only country in the world with a system of mass incarceration at this scale, and that must change.

What We Do
New Vision Organization works closely with three designated incarcerated liaisons who are individuals in good standing who assist NVO and its volunteers in identifying incarcerated persons who are deserving of support, yet are denied access to programs, legal help, or face other barriers to rehabilitation and release.

Our work includes:

  • Conducting in-depth research

  • Writing letters and sending emails

  • Making phone calls to stakeholders and agencies

  • Attending coalition meetings

  • Maintaining regular correspondence with our incarcerated clients to foster transparency and trust

We believe that building trust is key to helping individuals feel safe enough to share their setbacks, challenges, and hopes for the future.

Location
Volunteers can work with NVO either directly or virtually to support incarcerated first-time offenders in Massachusetts who are serving life or LWOP sentences.

Our Mission and Vision
Through our radio program, Shedding Light on Blog Talk Radio, we aim to raise awareness about systemic injustices and advocate for prisons to be replaced with long-term residential treatment facilities, especially for individuals struggling with mental illness and addiction.

We are facing a nationwide crisis of addiction and mental illness. Prisons are not effective treatment centers, and they are not the solution.
