Who We Are
New Vision Organization, Inc. (NVO) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for incarcerated first time offenders, regardless of offense, who are serving life sentences or life without parole.
We believe that every person should be recognized for their humanity, capacity for growth, and potential for rehabilitation. NVO works to connect eligible incarcerated individuals with supportive resources, including independent pro bono attorneys experienced in criminal, appellate, post conviction, and civil rights matters.
We also collaborate with advocacy groups and community organizations to advance meaningful criminal justice reform, prison reform, parole reform, and humane alternatives to prolonged incarceration.
What We Do
NVO works with designated incarcerated liaisons who are in good standing and help identify individuals who may be deserving of support but lack access to legal resources, rehabilitative programming, advocacy assistance, or meaningful opportunities for review.
Our work includes conducting detailed research, writing letters and emails, contacting agencies and other stakeholders, participating in coalition meetings, raising public awareness, and maintaining regular communication with the incarcerated individuals we support.
By building relationships grounded in trust, dignity, honesty, and accountability, we create a supportive environment in which individuals can openly share their experiences, challenges, progress, and hopes for the future.

Where We Serve
NVO supports incarcerated first time offenders serving life or life without parole in Massachusetts. Volunteers may contribute remotely or participate directly in research, correspondence, outreach, advocacy, public education, and organizational initiatives.
Our Mission and Vision
Through advocacy, public education, coalition building, and our radio program, Shedding Light, NVO raises awareness of systemic injustice and promotes humane, effective responses to mental illness, addiction, trauma, and incarceration.
We envision a justice system that balances accountability and public safety with compassion, rehabilitation, restorative justice, and meaningful opportunities for personal transformation. We believe prisons should not serve as substitutes for mental health care or addiction treatment and that individuals with significant behavioral health needs should have access to appropriate, secure, and long term treatment environments.
