Our Mission
New Vision Organization (NVO) is a nonprofit dedicated to advocating for incarcerated first time offenders serving life or life without parole. We work to ensure that individuals, particularly those affected by mental illness, addiction, trauma, wrongful conviction, or other significant hardships, are seen as more than their sentences and are given a meaningful opportunity to be heard, supported, and fairly considered for freedom.
Through research, strategic letter writing, public education, coalition building, and connections to pro bono legal and advocacy resources, NVO helps amplify the voices of people who are too often forgotten within the criminal justice system. Our radio program, Shedding Light, further raises awareness of their experiences and encourages informed public discussion about justice, rehabilitation, and second chances.
We challenge the harms of mass incarceration while advancing humane, effective, and evidence informed alternatives. At the heart of our work is the belief that accountability and public safety can coexist with compassion, rehabilitation, restorative justice, and the possibility of personal transformation.
Advocacy Focus
Massachusetts lawmakers are considering reforms that could expand parole eligibility for some people serving life sentences. NVO supports meaningful review, rehabilitation, restorative justice, and fair sentencing policies that recognize personal growth and the possibility of transformation.
